When Michelle, our lifestyle assistant started up an impromptu drumming session we never could have imagined how popular it would be. The idea was genius; blow up the exercise balls, grab some drumsticks and drum along to our favourite tunes. So simple yet so much fun.
We always start off in our chairs, drumming along, tapping our feet, and singing, after about ten minutes we are going full Phil Collins, In the Air Tonight, singing at the tops of our voices and half of us have abandoned the drum and are now dancing around the room either air drumming or banging the sticks together.
Michelle is brilliant, she plays such an eclectic mix of tunes, there is something for everyone, from 50s swing to modern day pop classics, we can’t help but join in.
This activity provides us with a great way to exercise, it’s amazing how out of breath we get, it’s a fabulous workout for the arms, it promotes dexterity but most of all, it’s great fun.
The first session was attended by 3 or 4 of us, the latest one was so well attended that we ran out of drumsticks.
Don’t take our word for it, if you have an exercise ball and a something to hit it with, give it a go, you won’t regret it.
