Every month the team here put on a themed day; February was pirates. I am always quite amazed by the work that goes into these events, the attention to detail is really impressive.
We weren’t really sure what to expect from a pirate party, so we just threw ourselves into the spirit of the occasion and hoped that the day didn’t end with us having to walk the plank.
We had a great day, the cinema room had been transformed into a pirate hideaway, decorated with balloons and streamers, there were sea shanties playing and images of pirates at sea on the big screen. We started the morning with games such as Hoop-a-Hook and Pop-up-Pirate, they were a lot of fun.
After lunch we reconvened for a swashbuckling soiree with music and more games. We were offered some very strange sounding treats, from shark fins and cannon balls to oysters and fruity booty and these were washed down with Caribbean Sea Water which was a very pretty shade of blue and tasted delicious and a lot less salty than the name suggests. We even had a visit from a pirate who bore a striking resemblance to Mikey from the kitchen.
All in all, it was a great day, we laughed a lot. We are looking forward to our next themed party, I have no idea what the team have planned but I am confident that whatever it is it will be a lot of fun.
